Walking Together in Healing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prostate cancer affects Indigenous men in Canada<\/strong> and Aotearoa New Zealand<\/strong> at increasing rates \u2014 yet access to timely diagnosis, culturally safe support, and empowering education remains limited.
Historical trauma, systemic racism, and gaps in culturally grounded care continue to shape Indigenous men\u2019s experiences with cancer and survivorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At PC-PEP<\/strong>, we walk alongside<\/strong> Indigenous men, families, and communities \u2014 not ahead, not behind.
We recognize that true healing honours the whole person<\/strong>: body, mind, spirit, and connection to the land.
Our goal is to support strength, dignity, and wellness through approaches that respect traditional knowledge, community leadership, and self-determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barriers to Care<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Across Mi\u2019kma\u2019ki, the Prairies, the North, and the M\u0101ori heartlands, Indigenous men face many of the same barriers \u2014 but within distinct cultural and historical contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mistrust of the Healthcare System<\/strong>
Colonization, medical racism, and past injustices have created understandable hesitation and mistrust toward formal health systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geographic Isolation<\/strong>
Remote and northern communities often lack local urologists, reliable transportation, or regular screening opportunities \u2014 leading to later diagnoses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cultural Disconnect<\/strong>
Western medicine often focuses on disease rather than wellness. It can overlook Indigenous ways of knowing, spiritual practices, and the importance of family and community healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Silence Around Men\u2019s Health<\/strong>
Cultural expectations of strength and stoicism can make it difficult to talk about topics like incontinence, sexual health, or emotional well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How PC-PEP Is Walking With Indigenous Communities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

PC-PEP is a free, evidence-based, six-month home program<\/strong> that can be accessed from anywhere.
It supports healing across physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions through daily guidance videos, email support, and monthly gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
