💙 The Story Behind the T-Shirts: David Ashcroft’s Gift

The T-shirts worn by every PC-PEP Man of the Month carry a powerful story of generosity, creativity, and love. That story begins with David Ashcroft, a fellow PC-PEP mentor, author, and advocate.

David not only pledged 80% of the royalties from his memoir Searching for Belonging to PC-PEP, but he also personally designed the T-shirt artwork. His vision and generosity made it possible for us to create a visible, wearable symbol of awareness for prostate cancer and for the PC-PEP program.

These T-shirts mean so much—not just to our lab, but to the entire PC-PEP community. Each time one is worn, whether at an event, on a trip, or in daily life, it sparks conversations, raises awareness, and reminds others that they are not alone. Prostate cancer touches countless lives, yet stigma and silence too often prevent men from seeking support. That’s why raising awareness matters.

And it’s also why building communities of empowerment is at the very core of PC-PEP. More than a program, PC-PEP is a movement: transforming isolation into connection, turning fear into resilience, and replacing the label of “patient” or “victim” with one of strength, hope, and empowerment.

David’s gift — and the pride with which these shirts are worn — reflect what PC-PEP is all about: men lifting each other up, building community, and spreading a message of courage that extends far beyond themselves.

Thank you, David, for your creativity and generosity. You show why PC-PEP matters.
