PC-PEP Man of the Month: Kimble Meagher
Introduction
This month we celebrate Kimble Meagher, an inspiring PC-PEP graduate, mentor, and prostate cancer survivor from rural Nova Scotia. A retired engineer, marathon runner, and triathlete, Kimble has approached his cancer journey with remarkable courage, humility, and strength.
Through his diagnosis, treatment, recurrence, and ongoing survivorship, Kimble has shown how vulnerability and perseverance can coexist. He speaks openly about how PC-PEP supported not only his physical recovery but also his emotional and spiritual transformation. His story reflects a journey of rediscovery—of purpose, connection, and meaning—and a powerful example of what it means to thrive after cancer.
“You are not just a patient in this program; you are an active participant in your own healing.”
Contribution & Impact
Kimble’s impact on the PC-PEP community extends far beyond his own healing journey. Since joining PC-PEP in 2019, he has served as a Research Citizen Mentor and Lead, playing an integral role in shaping the heart of the program.
In 2020, Kimble raised over $8,000 for the Ride for Cancer, demonstrating his deep commitment to giving back and advancing prostate cancer awareness and support.

Since 2022, he has also helped organize and lead PC-PEP pre-sessions—safe, welcoming spaces for men who are new to the program or seeking deeper connection. In these sessions, Kimble creates an environment of openness and empathy where participants can speak honestly about their fears, challenges, and hopes.
A true leader by example, Kimble reminds every man he meets that courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to show up despite it. His mentorship has become a cornerstone of the PC-PEP experience—helping others turn their own isolation into empowerment and their pain into purpose.

👕 The Story Behind the T-Shirts: Why It Matters
The PC-PEP T-shirts are more than just fabric—they are symbols of connection, awareness, and pride in being part of the PC-PEP community.
These shirts were made possible by David Ashcroft, a fellow PC-PEP mentor and author, who donated proceeds from his memoir Searching for Belonging and designed the artwork himself.
Gestures like David’s mean so much to our lab and the PC-PEP community. Each shirt sparks conversations, raises awareness about prostate cancer, and reminds men everywhere that they are not alone. These small acts help PC-PEP fulfill its mission: forming communities of empowerment that transform isolation into connection and fear into resilience.
